Technical Information

The Pluto server is configured with the .NET 2.0 Framework and FrontPage 2002 server extensions and the student content is stored in WebDAV-enabled space.  This means that complex editing systems such as Microsoft FrontPage 2003 and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX can connect directly to the web sites, in addition to using simpler FTP programs.

When configuring programs to connect to Pluto, use the following information:

  • Host:  pluto.palomar.edu
  • Username:  STUDENT\your nine-digit Palomar student ID number
  • Folder/Web Name:  your nine-digit Palomar student ID number

So, a student with ID number 123456789 would have web space at http://pluto.palomar.edu/123456789/ and would access it using a username of STUDENT\123456789.

You may also be able to connect to content on Pluto by going to ftp://pluto.palomar.edu/.

General technical problems may be submitted as a ticket to technical support using our online Helpdesk system.  Be sure to choose the Pluto "Department" on the ticket form.  Support is not available for specific problems with using FTP and editing software.  For assistance with using programs required by your class, please contact your instructor.
